In 2006 Laurie Berzack launched Chai Expectations. Her reasons were twofold: to follow her life's passion, and to fill a void in her hometown of Charlotte, NC. "For a thriving city that is home to so many successful professionals, there really was no resource specifically for Jewish singles who want to meet and foster relationships with other Jewish singles," says Laurie. "I decided to build a business doing what I love most-helping people connect with each other." Laurie began with just two dozen clients; now, her database boasts more than 5,000 Jewish singles across the country.

Chai Expectations is more than just a dating service. Laurie's clientele share a common goal of finding their bashert, or Jewish soul mate. "When I make a match, I'm looking far beyond a first date," says Laurie. "I'm looking ten, twenty, fifty years down the road." Laurie and her clients have enjoyed stunning success, with 88% of Laurie's matches translating into second dates. So far she's even logging an average of two marriages each year.

Laurie has even enjoyed international coverage in Jewish Woman International Magazine. Laurie's dedication to helping people and contributing to the community is deep-seeded. She has a wealth of professional experience in non-profit fundraising through educational and social events, having worked with The United Jewish Appeal (now United Jewish Communities), Hillel at Emory University, The American Cancer Society, A Child's Place, Charlotte Advocates for Education, The Afro-American Cultural Center, and Jewish Family Services. Laurie is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte and a past board member of The National Society of Fundraising Executives. She is actively involved in The Charlotte Jewish Day School and Ohr Ha 'Torah Synagogue and has completed the Charlotte Business Journal Women in Business Mentor Program. She attended Wurzweiler School of Social Work, a division of Yeshiva University in New York, NY, where she earned a Masters Degree with a concentration in Community Organization. Prior to Wurzweiler she studied at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where she received a BA in English and Psychology. Though extremely passionate about helping Jewish soul mates find each other, the most important thing in Laurie's life is her family. She's been married since 1994 and has two sons.
